Nursing Home Week 2022
May 16, 2022
One of the most important events of the year that takes place in May is National Skilled Nursing Care Week. This year, it was celebrated the week of May 8-14th. Sponsored by the American Health Care Association, this week recognizes the role of skilled nursing care centers. This year’s theme was “Creating and Nurturing Connections.”
To kick off Nursing Home Week, we hosted a Mother’s Day Tea Social on Sunday. On Tuesday, our residents were gathered in the dining area to watch as staff participated in Minute to Win It challenges and a talent show. The challenges consisted of hula hooping, keeping the balloon off the floor, filling the bottle and stacking the dice. Our HR Director, Kyria, and an LPN, Steven, dazzled us with their singing in the talent show!

To keep the fun going, on Wednesday, we had an entertainer come in. Curtis Chamberlain sang songs that the residents were tapping and clapping to, and he also played the saxophone. We had an ice cream sundae bar on Thursday for staff and residents, where they were served vanilla ice cream with a wide variety of toppings! The grand finale for the week was a magician. Michael Strough came to showcase his many talents with magic. He showed us tricks, card tricks and even some escapes! Our residents were thrilled to have him! The day concluded with delicious root beer floats.
We would like to personally thank each and every one of our staff members for participating in the events all week long. Cumberland Pointe would not be the wonderful place that it is without all of you. A special thank you to our Activities Department for showing everyone the appreciation they deserve. We love not only seeing the residents smile but our hard-working staff too.
Happy Nursing Home Week! Check out our Facebook page to see more photos from our fun-packed week!
