A Vibrant Life in Long-Term Care at Cumberland Pointe

What's life like in long-term care? As a long-term care facility, it's so important for us to host engaging activities, outings, events, and more for our residents to enhance their quality of life, get them out of their rooms for some adventure, and provide them with something that brings them joy. Every department at Cumberland Pointe Care Center does its part in creating a home-like atmosphere where residents feel this level of comfort, love, and security while they stay with us.

Activities are a big part of our residents' day. It is not just entertainment but it helps keep our residents moving and their brains thinking, promoting good physical and mental health. Our Activity Department is known for going above and beyond and ensuring there are activities planned every day here at Cumberland Pointe. They try to personalize it as much as they can by asking each resident what kind of outing they would like to go on and what activities they are interested in.



Recently, one of our residents enjoyed a special day picked out just for her. She chose to go shopping and eat at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. So Sally and Debbie, our activities staff, took her to browse Wal-Mart and pick out a few items, and then enjoy a relaxing lunch together afterward. When residents feel excited and encouraged to live a normal life, the team members at Cumberland Pointe know it contributes to a healthier and happier resident. We will continue to incorporate new games, activities, and entertainment to keep the lives of our residents fulfilled, happy, and healthy.



Meals are another important aspect of a good quality of life at a nursing home. Our Dietary Department has excellent food, centered around delicious taste and healthy options, making sure to listen to the residents' dietary preferences and goals. They are able to personalize their meals each day and receive an elegant dining experience with table linens, centerpieces, and top-notch service from our staff who go around as servers. Our Dietary Team loves making our residents feel special!

Allowing our residents to look and feel their best is a special kind of service that Cumberland Pointe proudly offers. Every Friday, we have the pleasure of welcoming Cate, our wonderful Beautician, and her beauty services. She makes this a special session where our residents can feel pampered and relaxed. Cate not only cuts, colors, and styles their hair to their liking but also lends an ear to listen to them, give a little advice, and share a laugh or two. Everyone always leaves feeling beautiful and fulfilled, and who doesn't love a little self-care?

Leading by example, our Administrator and the department heads set the standard high by always displaying a sense of compassion and kindness. They don't just sit behind a desk, they are out and about the facility interacting with residents on a daily basis. The Aides, Nurses, Therapy, and Housekeeping Department know how to spread joy to our residents, sharing smiles and laughs. Our residents are each known by name and we make it our mission to always make them feel heard and valued.
