WHEELING PHYSICAL THERAPIST AWARDED NEUROLOGIC SPECIALIST CERTIFICATION!

Matthew Burke, PT, DPT, of Wheeling, WV, was awarded the prestigious professional designation of the board-certified clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Burke specializes in the identification and treatment of adults with neurologic conditions affecting motor control. He is the director of the rehabilitation at Cumberland Pointe Care Center in St. Clairsville, OH, overseeing the functional mobility of individuals in order to return them to the highest level of independence. Burke ensures the quality and devotion of the therapy staff to improve the physical function of the residents of Cumberland Pointe and provide the best outcomes possible. Matt has been at Cumberland Pointe for 10 years and has numerous commendations from former residents and staff.

“In the pursuit and successful completion of becoming a board-certified neurologic physical therapist, I feel that this further solidifies the quality and devotion that myself and those affiliated with me have to improve the physical condition and function of my patients,” Burke said.

Burke graduated in 2004 from Nazareth College of Rochester in Rochester, New York, with a Master’s of Physical Therapy and received his doctorate from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in 2013. In addition to the board certification in neurologic physical therapy, he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and he has been credentialed by the McKenzie Institute in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment.
